Balti Palace Tewkesbury

Welcome to Balti Palace Tewkesbury, located at 29 Barton St, Tewkesbury GL20 5PR, a cozy spot that brings robust Indian flavors right into town. From the moment you arrive, the scent of warming spices and freshly toasted naan promises something comforting. The interior is simple but warm, and even during busy evening hours the staff stay friendly and attentive—something I appreciated during a recent visit.

The menu offers a solid range of curry house favorites, but their balti dishes take center stage for good reason. I sampled the lamb balti with spinach: big chunks of lamb, cooked until tender, bathed in a sauce balanced between creaminess and spice. The lamb retained its texture without becoming mushy, a sign they know how to manage heat and cooking time. My dining partner chose the chicken tikka masala and enjoyed a sauce that was rich without being too heavy. Vegetarian options were well represented too—aloo gobi and paneer tikka stood out for their freshness and thoughtful seasoning.

What struck me most was consistency: items ordered over multiple visits maintained the same flavors and presentation. For example, the garlic naan was reliably soft, slightly charred, and perfect for mopping up sauces. According to local reviews, this reliability is a reason many locals return.

Service-wise, the team handles busy nights gracefully. On a Saturday dinner, even though the restaurant was full, wait times were reasonable and servers were quick to refill drinks or adjust spice levels when asked. Portion sizes are hearty—often more than sufficient for one meal—so it’s easy to share and sample a couple of dishes.

Balti Palace also does takeaway, and though delivery times vary, the food still retains much of its flavor and warmth when it arrives at your door. All in all, this location offers a dependable experience for anyone in Tewkesbury craving genuine Indian flavors in a friendly, comfortable setting.

The food was excellent. Couple of dishes I wouldn’t normally have picked but recommended by excellent staff. Easily the best curry I have had in a very long time possibly even. Staff were attentive and food was present perfectly. Had a great chat after the food service was finished. Couldn’t have asked for better

First time here tonight after a recommendation. I’m so glad we tried it, absolutely fantastic service, happy to recommend dishes or you can have dishes cooked as required. I like mine extra saucey, that was no problem at all. Love that you can take your own drinks, means you are only spending money on the great food.

An unforgettable evening at Balti Palace: a true hidden gem in the heart of the Cotswolds! We were celebrating my wife’s birthday and the team went above and beyond to make it magical. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were treated with such warmth and care; genuine hospitality that’s all too rare these days. The food? Out of this world. Rich, authentic flavours that took us straight to the heart of India – every bite was a celebration. The dishes were beautifully spiced, perfectly balanced, and clearly made with love and pride. The surprise birthday treat for my wife was the cherry on top; thoughtful, joyful, and completely unexpected. It turned a lovely meal into something truly memorable. Thank you to everyone at Balti Palace for making our special evening sparkle. A perfect end to a perfect day. We’ll be back, and next time, we’re bringing friends!

What a super evening. From the initial friendly welcome to the amazing food this is definitely a must stop place in Tewkesbury. Or takeaway. The menu is extensive and very well presented. The restaurant was spotless as were the toilets. You bring your own alcohol and currently there's no corkage fee. We had a wonderful meal and would absolutely eat here again. Highly recommended.
